Meet Our Therapist and Staff

Cynthia Olson

Cynthia K. Olson, MA, CALT, ET/P is the owner and therapist of Rocky Mountain Educational Therapy, LLC (RMET). She opened her private practice in 1993 and relocated to Colorado in 2008. Cynthia opened her practice for one simple reason; to educate students that are not learning by the current methods being taught in schools.

Cynthia has teaching credentials/certificates for regular education and reading resource in both California and Colorado. She is a Certified Academic Language Therapist and an Educational Therapist at the professional level. Cynthia's MA is in education with an emphasis on clinical reading instruction. Currently, she is in a local MA program for Educational Psychology with an expected graduation of December of 2013.

Cynthia's vast educational experiences range from teaching in regular and special education classes grades Kindergarten through University. She has a strong background as an administrator, teacher trainer, and educator. Her favorite professional experience is instructing students in a therapeutic clinical setting such as RMET. Cynthia's hobbies include reading, baking, and socializing.

Andrew Esquivel

Andrew N. Esquivel joined RMET in the fall of 2012. Often students with learning disabilities encounter taking a foreign language in high school very challenging. With this in mind, RMET offers a bilingual tutor onsite. Andrew spent two years recently living in Mexico and is fluent in Spanish both verbally and written. Andrew is available for more traditional tutoring with all levels of Spanish.

Andrew has been informally associated with RMET for years and understands the basics of instructing students with various learning disabilities. Andrew also has learned to address his own learning disabilities and shares his personal experiences when working with students. Andrew's hobbies include numerous volunteer activities and playing the drums.

Sir Spencer

Sir Spencer is RMET's therapy puppy. He joined the center in May of 2012 when he was rescued and given a forever home. Spencer is a Jack Russell Terrier and Chihuahua mix that so far has been very good at training all the students to give him tons of attention. Therapy dogs are wonderful in therapeutic settings and there is nothing like a happy puppy to greet you after a long day of school.

Spencer offers unconditional love and support for all ages. Spencer's duties include helping younger students get their energy out prior to working, cuddling up for story time, and helping all the students with work time. Spencer's hobbies include collecting special rocks from the backyard and modeling his vast wardrobe that allows him to be a dapper dog dipped in dignity.
