"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. "

Jesus (Yeshua) on the Sabbath and "Rabbinic Law"

Matthew 12:1-2
1 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.

Matthew 12:5
5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

Matthew 12:8
8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day

Matthew 12:10-12
10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

Commentary
In this passage Jesus (Yeshua) and his disciples are walking through a field and the passage says: "and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat." There is nothing in the Law (Torah) prohibiting picking vegetables or fruit to eat on the Sabbath. This was the equivalent of going for a walk on the Sabbath and picking some berries to munch on. Rabbinic Law, however, did consider this work. This falls under the category of the "Traditions of Men" which Jesus (Yeshua) taught about often.

Jesus Referencing the Sabbath in the Last Days?

Matthew 24:15-21
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Commentary
The Law (Torah) says: "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work. But why does Jesus (Yeshua) make reference to: "But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:" if the Sabbath has been supplanted by Sunday (The Lord's Day)? If you were fleeing for your lives, you would definitely be performing work, especially if you were fleeing to the mountains. Believe me, I live in Colorado and have been to the mountains many, many times, and climbing is definitely work! But if it doesn't make any difference, what day of the week we keep, or if the "Lord's Day" has replaced the Sabbath, then why did he even mention "The Sabbath"? Hmmmm Interesting.....

Jesus (Yeshua) Teaches on the Sabbath

Mark 1:21
21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.

Commentary
WWJD – What Would Jesus Do? he would obey the Torah (Law), remember the Sabbath, and keep the feaasts. That's what Jesus did!

Aleph Tav

The Aleph & Tav

This is the Aleph and Tav. They are the first and last letters in the Hebrew alphabet. In Greek, they would be the Alpha and Omega. I think by now you can probably see where this is going, but do you actually know what Yeshua was referring to when he said: "I am the Alpha and Omega"? .... Read More

Fortune & Destiny

Why do I have an image of Fortuna, the Roman Goddess of fortune on this site? Scripture teaches us that in the last days people will be following the gods of "Fortune and Destiny".
